Purpose-bred, family-raised AKC Labs for serious shed hunting and lifelong companionship.

Our male, Ruger, is available for stud service at a fee of $500 per breeding. All females must provide proof of a current health check from their veterinarian before breeding.

Benelli is scheduled to be bred in February, with puppies expected to arrive in late April to early May.

At Buckledge Farm, our Labrador Retrievers are more than pets — they’re purpose-bred companions with heart, grit, and proven working ability. Our Labs are bred specifically for moose and deer shed hunting in the rugged North Country. We prioritize:

  • AKC Registration
  • Hip and Elbow Certification (OFA)
  • Temperament — Confident, loyal, and eager to please
  • Trainability — Natural drive, intelligence, and focus
  • Shed Hunting Instinct — Our dogs are actively used to locate moose and deer antlers on our farm

We breed only dogs that meet our standards for health, disposition, and working ability.

What Makes a Shed Dog?

Natural Nose. Trained Instinct.

Our dogs are raised to succeed in the field. Shed hunting combines a Labrador’s natural retrieving instinct with scent work and endurance. Your Buckledge Lab will:

  • Detect fresh or old sheds using scent
  • Work large acreage independently or with handler direction
  • Stay focused in tough, brushy terrain
  • Retrieve sheds gently, delivering them to hand

Our puppies are introduced to real antlers, various scents, and outdoor experiences as early as appropriate

Beyond our goats, we share the goodness of the land through personal care products made with natural ingredients, freeze-dried snacks full of flavor and crunch, durable antler chews for pets.
